Voxel Systems is an organisation providing Forensic Education from Crime Scene to Court through varied routes of learning – eStudy, Self-paced, virtual education as well as traditionally delivered face-to-face courses by certified trainers. The educational training packages are bespoke and deliver knowledge in an innovative way along with suitable practical training and skill development. 

 

Educational training packages can be tailored to individuals on a diverse spectrum of educational and/or practical requirement. Delivered training packages can be presented as part of activity packs at Secondary schools during British Science Week, as well as at a higher education level and a professional environment.

 

Voxel systems is founded by recognized experts in the field of Forensic Digital Imagery, Fibre Analysis, Microscopy and Forensic Photography, with a collective experience of more than 125 years.

A Wealth of Experience
Dr. Shelina Jilani

A recognised and well-respected facial comparison expert with 9 years’ industry experience within the discipline of facial image analysis. She regularly attends court to give expert evidence in many civil and criminal proceedings nationwide including Scotland and Southern Ireland. Dr. Jilani has a PhD in the discipline of Artificial Intelligence and her area of research relates to automated ethnicity classification of human face and face-features, from a human and Deep Learning perspective. She has a Bachelor of Science (Hons). in Forensic and Medical Science and a Masters in Science at a Distinction. She is a professional member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Science, Forensic Image Media Group and The Facial Identification Scientific Working Group (FISWG). Further, she is an associate member of the European Network of Forensic Science Institute (ENFSI) and it’s working group for facial image analysis. Since 2018, Dr. Jilani have been actively involved in developing and delivering lectures on Facial recognition and identification, to undergraduate university students at the University of Staffordshire, United Kingdom. In August 2019 Dr. Jilani successfully delivered a Facial Image training course to Iraqi security Police, Lawyers/Judges and interlocutors, on behalf of the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) Training Team in the British Embassy, Baghdad. In July 2020, Dr. Jilani headed the facial image comparison proifiency test for the ENSFI digital image working group

Professor Roger Robson BScHons FSoB PrFCSFS

Roger has  over 40 years’ experience as a forensic practitioner and manager; accumulating a broad range of experiences working in both the private and public sectors, as well as extensive experience, working for both sides of the UK judicial system.

Originally rooted in the Forensic Science Service, being trained in various disciplines and specialising in micro-particles. As of 1992 he was considered by his peers to be an ambassador for this discipline and was instrumental in setting up the ENFSI Fibre Group where he continued to travel and lecture extensively.  Roger has been involved in the most complex of cases and these days specialises in unsolved cases and Appeals across the world.

 

By 1998 he joined the private sector in various Director roles for the main UK forensic suppliers. He sat on the Forensic Regulator’s Advisory Council .from 2009-2020, is the Immediate Past President for the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences and a Visiting Professor for the School of Law, Policing & Forensic Science at Staffordshire University.

Michael Dixon BSc (Hons)

Mike has over 40 years experience working in forensic photography, digital imaging, video and audio as well as introducing the use of new technologies in the courtroom.

 

Always at the forefront, he pioneered the use of forensic 3D CGI and interactive graphics to aid the court's understanding of complicated events and scenarios. 

 

Mike has published books and articles on forensic audio enhancement and digital imaging as well as running training courses on both subjects.

Linda Mitchell

Linda has been actively involved in the Forensic Industry for the past 4 years, currently as Operations Director and has an extensive career background in client centric positions. 

 

Predominantly her roles have been that of Client Manager, in a variety of industries, always striving to ensure that the customer experience is of the highest quality.  Her strengths lie in process management and team leadership focusing on services being delivered to a consistently high standard.

Stephen Cole

Photographer & Graphic Designer, Stephen is obsessive about fonts and straight lines. Passionate about the rule of thirds and pure simple design.

 

A natural visual communicator he thrives on making the complex simple. Never happier than when making the mundane interesting. Stephen has applied these principles to communicating the presentation of visual evidence, simplifying complicated forensics by using easily understood graphics.

 

He has spent over 30 years working in a variety of areas in police and forensic imagery and in pioneering the use of digital courtroom presentations.

George Phillips

George is a training manager with responsibility for HR and external services and brings over 40 years of diverse leadership experience to the team. 

​

George began his career with the UK Police Service and is a trained Negotiator, Surveillance, and Investigations expert. He held responsibility for crime management and serious crime investigation within his jurisdiction as well as managing large investigation teams on a day-to-day basis. 

 

He was selected and trained as Training Manager for an internationally acknowledged Detective Training School within West Yorkshire Police in the UK, where he headed a team of 25 detectives delivering specialist investigative courses to international law enforcement students. 

​

He also delivered Investigation Management courses to Senior Detectives and sat on UK national working parties developing national tiered responses to Investigative Interviewing and Senior Investigating Officer development courses nationally. 

​

As training manager, he held responsibility for: 

  • Assessing training development requirements. 

  • Designing training courses to meet identified needs. 

  • Critiquing programmes and course delivery to ensure they met objectives set.  

  • Monitoring and assessing the value and effectiveness of training programmes delivered. 

  • Keeping up to date with training trends, delivery technology and best practice. 

  • Implementing training techniques to improve efficiency. 

  • Budget and people management.

His long experience ensures that training delivery and course content is continually assessed, relevant and up to date.
